Semi-Coated Matte Cardstocks

Semi-Coated Matte Cardstocks have more of a satiny feel and sheen to their surface.  They are not as shiny as glossy, but they are more absorbent than glossy..  Paints work well as long as the cardstock is blocked prior to painting and limited water is used.  The weight of this cardstock is indicated by “pound” (i.e. - #).  The higher the pound, the heavier the cardstock. The average weight of  the most commonly used semi-coated matte cardstock is 65-80#.

Products which work well with semi-coated matte cardstocks are, but not limited to: all types of inks (air dried), chalks, oil pastels, chalk pastel pencils and sticks, Radiant Pearls, Pearl Ex (wet or dry), Lumiere and Neopaque paints, Pearl Ex Watercolor Palettes, blender pens, dye based and permanent markers (won’t leave streaks if you use a blender pen), watercolor crayons, colored pencils, watercolor pencils with blender pen or waterbrush

Techniques which work well on semi-coated matte cardstocks are, but not limited to: sponging, painting, stippling, brayering, heat embossing, Direct to Paper (with any type of inks), Direct to Rubber (with watercolor crayons).
